New BYD QinPLUS DM-i Hits the Market, Offering More Affordable Configuration Options
The new BYD QinPLUS DM-i has finally arrived in local dealerships, marking another addition to the brand's lineup of vehicles equipped with fifth-generation DM technology. The newcomer boasts an affordable price tag, starting at 8.98 yuan (approximately 2,600 USD), which is roughly 1 yuan more than its predecessor.
From a design standpoint, the QinPLUS DM-i retains much of the aesthetic appeal of its sibling model, the QinL DM-i, while introducing new elements to enhance its visual presence. The vehicle features a unique "big-mouth" grille with a new larger mesh screen, giving it a more three-dimensional appearance. Additional touches include pronounced side airflow vents and a revised front bumper design.
The exterior dimensions have been tweaked slightly, with the car sporting a longer wheelbase at 2718mm, while its overall length and height have increased by 15mm and 20mm, respectively. The latter is notable for being devoid of moonroofs due to the vehicle's all-electric nature.
Inside, the QinPLUS DM-i has adopted the latest minimalist aesthetic trend, boasting more refined and compact interior elements. Its dashboard features a tasteful, modern touch, complemented by thoughtful layout decisions that generally make it feel more harmonious than its predecessor. However, the display screen remains compact on lower-end trim levels as to balance costs. Steering wheel inputs mirror those found in the QinL DM-i for a uniform driving experience.
A noticeable aspect separating this from its elder sibling is the use of an all-new 1.5-liter gasoline engine with significant performance gains – its maximum power output reaching 74 horsepower and its electric motor delivering up to 120 horsepower, paired with enhanced fuel efficiency through more efficient power dynamics.
The premium versions of the QinPLUS DM-i not only come equipped with upgraded components but also offer advanced driving features as well including an optional state-of-the-art camera system. Such technological upgrades may help improve safety levels while further extending customer accessibility and convenience.
