Alpine A290 Rallye Makes Global Debut with Electric Powertrain
The Alpine A290 Rallye, an electric rally car developed by the Viry-Chatillon team specifically for racing events, has officially been unveiled. Based on the Alpine A290 road-going model, the rally variant boasts a range of upgrades to enhance its performance, including a new engine cover design and improved airflow through its front bonnet.
The car's exterior features have been heavily modified with a focus on aerodynamics, including larger 18-inch alloy wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport A tires. The rear wheels are fitted with single-piece calipers, featuring 280mm discs, while the front brakes use six-piston monoblock calipers with 350mm discs.
Additionally, the rally car is equipped with an ALP Racing Suspension anti-roll bar system to ensure precise handling on the track.
While the interior design has not been made public, official sources have confirmed that the car will feature Sabelt bucket-style racing seats and a dynamic suspension system. The vehicle's powertrain is also electric, driven by a single motor with two output options: 180 horsepower and 220 horsepower. The latter accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 6.4 seconds.
The Alpine A290 Rallye boasts a range of performance figures, with a weight of 1479kg and an estimated top speed of over 240km/h. Its electric powertrain is supported by a 52kWh battery pack, providing a range of approximately 380 kilometers on a single charge. The car also features rapid charging capabilities that can replenish a full charge in under half an hour.
The Alpine A290 Rallye will make its public debut at the Goodwood Speedweek event next week in 2025 and is set to compete in high-profile rallying events, including the Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine.
