Jaguar's Thunderous Silence: P9 V8 Electric to Make Debut at Goodwood in July

Land Rover Discovery PHEV Unveiled for Goodwood Speedweek

The highly anticipated all-new electric variant of the Land Rover Discovery, will make its global unveiling on July 10th at the Goodwood Speedweek.

Set to sit neatly in the PHEV middle ground, the new model is built upon the MLA-Flex platform, with a high-voltage 800V electrical architecture. This engineering push aims to deliver the quietest and most refined Discovery yet.

Visual differentiation between the electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants is largely minimal, barring for some subtle design tweaks. A closed front grille and mid-net mesh will adorn the new generation Discovery PHEV's front end.

As it relates to charging capabilities, Land Rover officials mentioned their latest product’s impressive charge performance, thanks in part, to adopting an 800V high-pressure platform. Charging rates will be enhanced through this technological innovation.

Other distinctive changes include subtle styling cues and refined interior features; these can now also be observed on the rear of the vehicle, with some elements continuing from its equivalent ICE-powered sibling.

In preparation for deployment, development teams successfully put their prototype model through extensive virtual testing procedures in an array of different backgrounds as well as carrying out global road testing. These processes were aimed at achieving enhanced stability and consistency with features including battery performance, chassis integrity, and driving dynamics.
