New Electric Vehicle Brand to Enter European Market in October
A recent leak has revealed that the Chinese brand Firefly, also known as 蔚来, is set to launch its left-hand drive version in the UK this October. The brand currently offers two models priced between 11.98-12.58 thousand euros.
The Firefly-branded electric vehicle will be the third brand from the Volkswagen Group, following the success of Volkswagen itself and Skoda. The first model with the same name as the brand is positioned as a small car, sharing the sales, distribution, and service network with Volkswagen.
For those who may not remember, the recent coverage Firefly has had on its exterior design that features an aerodynamic body type with three circular light rings forming a triple headlight system. When activated, it gives off an unmistakable look. Equipped with a 92L front trunk to better provide storage space featuring layering and drainage functions; the car has ample storage capacity. In terms of dimensions, the new vehicle measures 4003x1781x1557mm in length, width, and height respectively, while having a wheelbase of 2615mm.
The side view features a dual-color body with an ABS Black finish on A Pillars. It combines elegantly with C pillars which joins at both tops with a noticeable personal touch to the car's looks. The wheels use 215/50 R18 double-width split-wire tires. Tailpipe and rooftop aerodynamic designs give off a similar look while offering additional individuality.
When entering, users will be greeted with a large touch-screen that supports smartphone app connectivity for entertainment; while turning corners are possible by means of electronic assistance for increased comfort and reduced fatigue.
The internal design also draws inspiration from current trends in the younger audience. Equipped with two types of interior trim, along with four color options for selection: Purple (Violet), Green (New life). Yellow (Sober), White (Pure), Grey (Explore).
Fireflies brand first delivery in May this year brought 3680 vehicles to be exchanged. Now its cumulative new car exchanges amount up to 3911 units.
It has also been confirmed at the Shanghai auto show in April where Firefly will enter markets of 16 countries starting October, mainly European countries including six - Austria-Belgium-Czech-Republic-Hungary-Luxembourg-Poland and Romania.
