Shocking Recall: Hot Batteries Raise Safety Concerns Over Chinese-Made Mini Electric Cars.

Recall Notice for MINI Cooper and Mini AceMan Vehicles

The Light BULB Automobile Company Limited has filed a recall plan with the National Market Supervision Administration in accordance with the Regulations on Handling Defective Automotive Products Recall and The Implementation Provisions of the Regulations.

Recall Batch:

A total of 70 defective vehicles will be recalled, including:

  • MINI Cooper (manufactured between June 1, 2024, and August 17, 2024): 55 units
  • MINI AceMan ( manufactured between January 10, 2024, and September 18, 2024): 15 units

Reason for Recall:

The recalled vehicles are affected by a production issue with the battery cells, which may cause partial polarization of the positive and negative electrode layers, leading to excessive self-discharge. In extreme cases, this can result in overheating of the battery pack, posing a safety risk.

Remedial Actions:

The Light BULB Automobile Company Limited will provide free replacement of the defective battery modules for all affected vehicles to eliminate any potential safety hazards.
