Is Tesla Model 3's Cool Factor Fading? Real-World Performance Put To The Test

Tesla Model 3 High Performance: A Performance Monster with a Dull Aftertaste

The electric vehicle industry has gained momentum, and Tesla remains the benchmark for its competitors. However, with the emergence of domestic brands offering high-performance electric vehicles, such as Xiaopeng SU7, it seems that Tesla's reputation is slowly fading in comparison to these new entrants.

To assess the Tesla Model 3 High Performance's performance, we put its 2024 model through a thorough test. Despite having been touted as the most enjoyable driving experience car, this version has become somewhat outdated.

Performance

TheTeslaModel 3HighPerformance features an electric motor delivering 466 horsepower and 723 Nm of torque, with an acceleration time of 0-100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds.

In the frenetic mode, kicking down the accelerator pedal results in relentless power output, with the car taking on a noticeable "lift-the-head" posture. When pressed firmly down, there's almost no drag during the test run. The result: 3.29 seconds to hit 100 km/h and an impressive acceleration of 1.77 Ns.

The first 0-400m sprint shows the Tesla Model 3's sustained power output across the board. Despite a minor delay in deceleration, it clocks in at 11.47 seconds, with an apex speed of 193.94 km/h.

A sleek front-rear suspension setup brings out more aggressive lines and is supported by larger wheel wells giving the car, a sporty aerodynamics profile.

Handling Safety

Tesla Model 3's responsive dynamic behavior on tight corners displays exceptional agility and braking prowess.

Handling stability proved to be spot-on during the evasive maneuvers test in its well-managed deceleratin gprocess.

Driving Experience & Ergonomics

The seat cushion, rear support, backrest angle adjustment provide excellent ergonomic comfort for long-lasting driving.

During the day-to-day driving segment, Tesla Model 3 demonstrated agile speed, well-handled suspension, smooth steering with an enjoyable feel.

While the test showed impressive performance, a less-than-ideal interior arrangement may be jarring during daily drives.

Interior Space

Space-wise compared to smaller models, there's enough elbow room, but rear passenger legroom takes a slight back seat to midsize cars.

Storage capacity is also well-thought-out and practical in its layout.

The Tesla Model 3 High Performance packs 1,770 liters of cargo space behind the front seats, including ample storage below that too.

Range Efficiency & Economy

Tesla Model 3's overall efficiency was recorded with an average of 15.3 kWh/kg, indicating a strong battery range of approximately 507 km (50% charged) per 100km driven in urban driving.
