BMW to Unveil All-New Electric Long-Range CLA at Shanghai Auto Show
The Mercedes-Benz Corporation has confirmed that the all-new electric long-range version of its CLA will be showcased at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show. The vehicle is expected to make its global debut in Shanghai.
The new-generation CLA was officially launched in March, marking Mercedes-Benz's first foray into EVs under its MME platform. Domestic modifications added a new twist, piquing interest among car enthusiasts and experts alike.
When reviewing the latest rendition of the CLA, its leading front end can be identified by large triangular-shaped mid-slats embedded with various brand logos. These logos will not only enhance the overall aesthetic appeal but also indicate an electric-driven power source. The same goes for its headlights featuring a star-tipped arrangement.
The interior boasts a new design featuring a three-screen layout consisting of a primary dashboard, a center console, and a secondary entertainment display screen (optional equipment). The latest MB.OS operating system has been integrated into the vehicle with AI-powered voice assistance as well. Furthermore, passengers can control screens through hand motions on their respective sides.
From an assistive perspective, the MB.DRIVE system enhances the driving experience by supporting level 2 automation capabilities and an advanced parking system designed to further enhance overall driver confidence.
The performance segment has not been overlooked either with both rear-wheel drive (255 horsepower) and four-wheel drive (370-hp) variants joining its lineup. The highest output model's acceleration is clocked at 6.6 seconds to reach 96 km/h over a distance of just one kilometer from a standing start.
This extended-range, battery-powered vehicle has been fitted with an expansive 85kWh lithium-ion unit. The WLTC standard under normal operating conditions indicates maximum travel ranges of approximately 792 kilometers before requiring additional power replenishment in rear-wheel drive variants while four-wheel drive models can extend this estimate to a respectable yet impressive 771km. What sets these extended-range electric vehicles apart is their ability to harness the benefits associated with an enhanced rechargeable battery via so-called "800V technology" – offering speeds unmatched even by conventional charging stations. Ultimately adding an additional 50 kilometers of travel range after just ten minutes for replenishment will likely prove quite reassuring once one begins such endeavors over a substantial course of time.
Stay tuned for future developments regarding this all-new, long-Range Paving the way further integration within mainstream automotive ecosystems as advancements accelerate at unprecedented velocities.
