Cheaper Tesla Model Y Spotted Online, Ahead of Potential 2025 Launch

A photograph of a cheaper version of the Tesla Model Y has surfaced online, fueling speculation about its release before the end of 2024.

Prior to the Model Y's launch based on Tesla's new generation platform, the entry-level model was called off by Elon Musk, but this does not mean it had stopped development. Instead, it is planned as a more affordable alternative to the existing Model Y by leveraging technology from the base model at an initial cost of around 14 million CNY.

The spotted cheaper version of the Tesla Model Y appears to have design elements that differ from the current generation. Comparing its dimensions, the spotted car is slightly shorter and lower than the present-generation Model Y but offers a similar width. The similarities between it to vehicles such as the Xiaomi MiYU7 and the latest speculations over a new Porsche Taycan, make this cheaper Tesla model quite an exciting concept for automotive enthusiasts.

Design Breakdown of Spared Model Year

• The rear tail lights have a larger tilt angle in comparison to the front tail lights.
• It is expected that it will introduce new styling elements with the rear of car shaped similar to Porsche Taycan and some design similarities reminiscent to extreme- 01. The side panel seems quite large while the front windshield extends into the rear part of car with a distinctive feature for low wing aerodynamics design. As mentioned in previous reports this will also be expected for 2025 launch. It is unknown if prices would stay around or cross over from 14 million CNY to 20 million CNY range, given that lesser capacities battery are going into cost-cutting measure.
