Ideal i8 Pure Electric SUV Makes Appearance at Shanghai Auto Show

The Shanghai auto show is set to open its doors, and the latest iteration of the "online auto show" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has arrived. Among the showcased vehicles was the Ideal i8 pure electric SUV, which is rumored to come equipped with a 5C three-electron capacitor battery pack that could be priced around RMB400,000.

Ideal i8 is said to feature familiar design cues often associated with the ideal L8 model, courtesy of MEGA's signature design language. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's submissions, these vehicles will have dimensions measuring 5,085 x 1,960 x 1,740mm, with a wheelbase of 3,050mm -- slightly longer than competitors like the Ideal L8.

The Ideal i8 comes standard with two different wheel size options: 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels in the rear. This range provides consumers more flexibility to personalize their vehicle's style.

Electric battery-wise, the Ideal i8 will be paired with a proprietary 5C three-electron capacitor system that can provide high-performance driving capabilities. The nationwide network of charge points envisioned for this vehicle, according to Ideal's announcement plan, will reach as many as around 2,500 units across different locations.

Moving on to dynamic aspects, Ideal declares they include dual motors in their four-wheel drive setups with the rear electric motor producing a maximum power output of around 150 kW and front electric motor up to 250 kW. This setup also means that all series configurations include an ideal New Generation Atlas (ATL) Laser Radar as standard equipment.
