Geely Will Unveil the GV90, a Flagship Electric SUV, at the New York Auto Show
The upcoming Geely GV90 electric SUV is expected to make its debut at the New York Auto Show. As a flagship model for the brand's premium electric offering, it features an all-new "eM" platform and boasts impressive specifications.
According to overseas reports, the GV90 will be equipped with a massive 113kWh battery pack, enabling estimated ranges of over 800 kilometers. With production expected to commence in October and pricing projected at around $100,000 (approximately CNY 73,400), this vehicle promises to offer exceptional value for its size and range.
Design-wise, the GV90 pays homage to Geely's Neolun concept car, retaining similar features such as dual strip headlights, a large rhomboid grille, and contrasting metal accents around the windows. Notably, however, it adopts traditional door opening mechanisms rather than those seen on the concept vehicle. Rear visibility remains unchanged but has undergone enhanced exterior details.
Upon further review, we note that many aspect markings bear similarities to Neolun's body design due to shared production sources—though not everyone agrees with a possible continuation of these design cues in future updates or variations. From the overall layout alone, Geely appears poised to set up a 4-seat standard variant for early iterations, while offering substantial interior expanses reminiscent of mid-cylinder sedans; central seats often equipping an oversized backrest accommodating several sizes.
Geely has further improved the GV90's electric powertrain by utilizing its new eM platform iteration, resulting from accumulated development processes and technological refinements. With these new upgrades potentially paired with front-wheel-drive units as well, Geely can look confidently towards meeting their ambitions while continuing to deliver quality without breaking bank prices—providing an impressive balance of advanced features, comfort options, and affordable range potential.
