BYD Releases Record-Breaking Q1 Results, Drives Sales and Revenue to New Highs

BYD announced its first quarter of 2025 results, which saw a record-high number of sales and revenue for the automaker.

BYD reported a total sales volume of 704,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2025, representing a year-over-year growth of 48%. Electric vehicle sales accounted for 33.9 million units, constituting a significant portion of the overall sales figure.

The company's revenue reached CNY 725 billion in the first quarter, increasing by 25% compared to the same period last year. The net profit attributable to equity holders was CNY 56.7 billion, showing an increase of 264% over the same quarter of previous year.

Looking into specific details, the silver-horse brand saw sales volume reach 260,000 units, up 214% compared to the same period in the prior year. The Chinese star brand delivered 330,000 vehicles, representing a growth rate of 10%. Meanwhile, the leebao (BYD's luxury car brand) reported sales volumes of 73,000 units, increasing by 19%.

During the first quarter, byd announced delivery of 41,000 vehicles under its extreme brand label in Q1, with the total revenue reaching CNY 220.19 billion and a consolidated gross profit ratio of 19.1%. BYD's overall vehicle sales reached 110.11 thousand units, yielding an automotive sales revenue of CNY 190.96 billion -- marking the year's first quarter growth by 16.1%.. The company invested approximately RMB 28 billion in research and development projects.

The foreign market delivered exports totaling 90,000 units during Q1. As of March-end, BYD secured an online presence across 86 countries, boasting a distribution network with more than 900 outlets globally. During February, the brand gained further footholds at 39 markets and opened its shop for 108 times over there.

During this time, BYD's extreme7X has expanded into Europe by establishing a network of retail stores spanning multiple international locations.
