Tesla's Electric Dreams: Surprising Sales Figures & A Sizzling New Hybrid Plan for Workers on a Budget

Mercedes to Rethink Small G's Electric Only Format

Mercedes-Benz is reportedly planning a review of its small G model, and the company might opt for hybridization instead of sticking exclusively to electric powertrains.

The decision comes amid underwhelming sales of pure electric versions of the G model. According to recent data from Mercedes, the company sold only 1450 electrified G models in Europe as of April this year, which is roughly around 7 times fewer units compared to their conventional counterparts.

Sales figures for China show similar trends, with just 58 pure electric G models sold since its introduction in autumn 2024. This has raised concerns for Mercedes about the limitations they might face if they remain committed to exclusively using electricity.

The new iteration of the Mercedes small G is expected to hit the market by 2027, and it will boast an innovative platform and new technologies. With 800V fast-charging capabilities and standard four-wheel drive, the car promises extended range of up to 483 kilometers.
