Rev Up to 1000 Horsepower! Mercedes-AMG Unveils New Gen of Luxury SUVs in June

Maserati AMG Unveils New Four-Door GranTurismo as Electric Powertrain Takes Center Stage

In a move that sets the stage for the electric revolution in the luxury car segment, Maserati has released a teaser image of its upcoming four-door gran turismo. The all-electric vehicle is set to go head-to-head with Porsche's Taycan, with an estimated maximum output of 1,000 horsepower.

Based on the preview image alone, several key design elements have been revealed. First and foremost, the new car boasts a low-slung stance, featuring a swooping rear-end design that aims to reduce wind resistance. The side profile showcases an unmistakable sloping line to the rear, evoking a sense of power and athleticism.

Early photos also suggest a more rounded front end, with sleek LED headlights and angular "shoulder" designs on either flank. The overall effect is one of sharp, aggressive lines that seem designed to cut through traffic. At the forefront, the vehicle features what appears to be a closed cockpit, complete with broad inlet vents beneath the grille.

The rear end takes cues from Maserati's existing power units, featuring a streamlined, aerodynamically-balanced design that should help reduce drag and improve overall efficiency. Although the company isn't keen on offering too much upfront detail, we can infer several things: temporary lighting clusters are mounted to either side of the rear lid, and there may be some sort of adjustable induction plate hidden under the car's bodywork.

Beyond aesthetics, Maserati has announced that it will be using a full new set of Axial-magnet induction motors. Smaller units with an estimated combined output of 487 horsepower is one expectation but larger unit could possibly reach impressive levels close to 1000 hp. With two electric motors installed the car's performance could become all-electric behemoths in future powertrain updates that would challenge Porsche, Audi and other manufacturers on their current electric status.

As for further revelations about this mysterious Maserati model, we'll be keeping watch patiently as more news emerges.
