Shanghai Nissan Unveils NDA 4.0 CityNav Pro, The First High-End Autonomous Driving System for the Masses

Guangqi HONDA to Unveil NDA 4.0 City Guidance High-Level Smart Drive Technology on March 6th

GUANGZHOU, China, March 6, 2023 - Guangqi Honda officially announced the release of its NDA 4.0 City Guidance High-Level Smart Drive technology on March 6th, which will be exclusively equipped on the HONDA HL SUV model. The HL is a newly launched mid-to-large-sized SUV that will go on-sale on March 18th with a suggested price around 350,000 CNY.

The NDA 4.0 City Guidance High-Level Smart Drive employs the latest industry-standard end-to-end architecture, boasting features such as automatic toll collection at parking lots, super-narrow parking lot entry, and advanced obstacle avoidance.

A key differentiation between NDA 4.0 and its predecessor, NDA 3.0, lies in its scene understanding capability, which exceeds mere scene recognition through more sophisticated data processing. The enhanced technology allows NDA 4.0 to be applicable across six scenarios: parking-and-parking, high-speed toll booths, super-narrow parking lots, construction site entranceways, chaotic intersection streets with tidal flow lanes, and all these can achieve almost 100% coverage.

Scene Recognition Enhancements

In traditional scene recognition-based systems, the toughest task is usually navigating the complex urban environment relative to its highway-grade counterpart. In such cases, where there's heavy traffic light interference from pedestrians, vehicles, construction site activities, driving along a crowded highway in poor visibility conditions all count as critical test scenarios for an intelligent AI driver system.

While traditional scene recognition-based systems will recognize specific parking destinations based on vehicle height and location within the designated lot area to determine whether it may be possible to proceed in that space without obstruction or traffic flow issues. A more sophisticated system will identify more subtle cues – not just a line drawn out of where and where one may safely operate but also determining real-time driver intent or potential risks and avoiding unnecessary maneuvers.

Toll Booth Autoguidance Scene

Navigating the complex networked toll booth scenario poses its own particular set of challenges, requiring precision control on vehicle handling coupled with an accurate car-parking judgment mechanism to ensure that no obstacle blocks vehicle progress through these narrow passages. Furthermore, even under ideal circumstances like calm day time conditions or during the night when bright lights are less common but car headlamps can impede vision further.

A high-level smart drive system such as NDA 4.0 should be able to assess such scenarios with greater precision and act accordingly in real-time to keep all users as safe as possible.
