Revolutionary New EV Hits the Market May 31 - Meet Smart's Top-of-the-Line Model

New Smart Fortwo Generation: A Step Up in Design and Technology

The latest iteration of the smart Fortwo, codenamed #1, has officially debuted at a recent industry event. While its overall design hasn't undergone significant changes compared to its predecessor, the new model boasts notable upgrades in terms of configuration, electric powertrain, and other technical aspects.

Internally, the vehicle underwent work with the National Development and Reform Commission and is scheduled to be launched at an upcoming exhibition.

Exteriorwise, the new Fortwo adheres to a more dynamic design philosophy. The front LED lamp group is connected to the two lateral triangularly designed lamps, while a sealed grille closes off the front portion of the vehicle. On either side, large air intakes are adorned with equilateral-shaped vents. Overall aesthetics give an impression of being stylish and premium.

Dimensions measure 4,300 × 1,822 × 1,636 millimeters in length, width, and height respectively. Wheelbase measures 2,750mm.

The two-body panel retains a distinctive hue between the roof structure and the remainder of the body. Its rear mirror has been blackened, while it uses the integrated opening for easy car washing.

By far, what has changed was smart's logo on the vehicle's C-structure side that continues to use LED lighting effects.

One notable feature is that this generation comes equipped with its new 19-inch wheels style design. The interior remains largely unchanged from before; one visible upgrade includes an entirely new aerodynamic car top spoiler under front brake, giving Fortwo a somewhat improved downforce.

The rear part boasts the incorporation of a small air-flow plate integrated into the upper side panel near front fog lights and with added LED low beams behind windshield glass that have some recognizable visual characteristics. Its LED taillights maintain their design scheme unchanged. To further reinforce visual elements in back the rear window has two rain sprinklers fixed by a protective visor while its rear bumper combines an embossed smart badge atop sleek-looking air intakes.

Inside, there are no structural changes within dashboard layout.

It still houses embedded screen displays consisting of an 9.2-inch analog gauges and three-stir dial multifunctional steering wheel coupled with a massive size LED audio system on the central console, meanwhile it has a large green interior panel as its distinct feature.

In terms of powertrain dynamics, smart #1's base model upgrade is powered by the new motor code for single-electric motor design, namely "TZ220XYA02" type - boasting higher output 250kW. Furthermore, due to an ongoing update and optimization efforts within lithium-ion battery groups such as iron-phosphate and three meta-chemistry types in line with prior information, all available battery-powered version configurations are set up for enhanced efficiency compared to before.
