Tesla's New High-Performance Model Y Spotted on the Track
A recently surfaced spy shot of Tesla's new high-performance Model Y has been seen testing at a north American track. The model is expected to be released soon, although no word has been confirmed by the company on its production status.
The photo provides insight into the car's exterior design, which appears largely identical to that of other Model Y variants. However, it features larger black alloy wheels and a red caliper, as well as a more pronounced rear diffuser. The front and rear bodywork do not appear to have any distinctive design cues. Additionally, the high-performance variant is expected to feature specially designed front and rear seats.
In terms of powertrain, the new Model Y is expected to feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, producing 380 kilowatts of maximum power and accelerating from 0-100km/h in approximately 3.2 seconds. The car will come equipped with a 79kWh battery pack, which is expected to provide a range of around 467 kilometers.
It's worth noting that these specifications may vary slightly depending on the model released in other markets. Domestic models are reportedly expected to have a longer specified range and less powerful output compared to their overseas counterparts.
The testing phase for the new Model Y is ongoing, with Tesla refining its production line ahead of a potential launch in domestic markets soon.
