Beijing to Continue Car Scrapping Subsidy Scheme in 2025

The Beijing Municipal Office of Commerce has announced that the city will continue its car scrapping subsidy scheme in 2025, which provides financial incentives for residents to trade-in their old vehicles and purchase new energy cars. The policy is set to follow an extension of the existing subsidies.

Regarding the updated standards for reporting scrapped vehicles, those aged 2.0 liters or lower have seen a reduction in the applicable subsidy amounts, with old cars being traded-in against a maximum increase of 1.5 thousand yuan, and vehicles above two-liters see the overall amount rise to 2 thousand yuan.

The latest rule also stipulates that cars must be registered under owners by July 25, 2024 (inclusive) for this specific vehicle trading scheme and must apply between September 1st and December 31st. Furthermore, it's necessary for applicants to have transferred car keys for a minimum of one year to be eligible for the policy.

Applicants are required to submit photographs of valid identification cards, receipt for new energy automobile registration permits, and driver's licence photo, vehicle number plate and chassis number plate must be submitted but can only file when uploading these pieces of information.

The process could involve a series of online proceedings starting once new vehicles have been successfully filed by the owner at the local car trade.
