New Polestar Concept Set to Enter Market in Late 2023
A new rendering of the upcoming Polestar concept car has been released on social media, offering a glimpse into what is expected to be a bold and futuristic new vehicle.
The design language of the future model appears to continue that seen in previous Polestar concepts, with a sloping rear deck and a small, duck-tailed fin that gives the car a sporty feel. The rendering also suggests that the new car will feature hidden door handles, which should improve its aerodynamics.
In terms of configuration, details are sketchy at this stage, but it's expected that the vehicle will be built with performance in mind, to further reduce wind resistance.
Under the bonnet, Polestar has confirmed that the future model will be powered by an electric motor assisted plug-in hybrid system. While the engine specifications have yet to be released, the company is likely to draw inspiration from its 07 EM-P model, which features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor for a total output of 280 kW and a peak torque of 615 Nm.
With an energy storage system capable of holding 18.99 kWh, this car's electric-only range is expected to be around 126 kilometers on the CLTC test cycle. The overall driving range of Polestar's future model will exceed 1400 kilometers, making it suitable for a variety of daily needs.
