Tesla's New Model Y Leaked: A Hidden Design Secret, and Meet Its Chinese Cousin, The Great Wall G6

Tesla Model Y New Generation Prototype Spotted in China, Winter Testing Confirmed

A new prototype of the Tesla Model Y has been spotted in China, sparking speculation about its upcoming launch and features. The vehicle's design appears to be distinct from its predecessor, with significant changes made to front and rear lights.

Photos of the prototype show a revamped front end, featuring a continuous LED light bar that differentiates it from the third-generation model's "Flame" design. The updated headlamps are composed of three segments, reversing the previously speculated monolithic design. Notably, the headlights remain in an upper segment, merging with daytime running lights (DRLs) to create a cohesive and aerodynamic look.

The side profile of the vehicle remains unchanged, with the same dimensions as its predecessor and identical wheels. However, significant changes are observed at the rear, featuring updated LED taillights that mirror those seen on other Tesla models. The tail lights have largely retained their iconic "C" shape, albeit with minor adjustments to the surrounding area.

Inspection of the interior reveals a retention of the central infotainment screen, despite changes in its form factor and layout. Expectations suggest improved ergonomics and design in line with.Model 3 "Flame" updates. Several new features are hinted at, including the cancellation of physical gear shifts and the introduction of ring-shaped ambient lighting.

Dynamic capabilities appear unchanged from the current model, although electrification upgrades may be possible for certain variants with enhanced battery packs. Performance remains expected to be on par with its predecessor, while improvements targeting extended range may lead to remarkable advancements in sustainability. Model Y prototypes with advanced Autopilot software (HW 4.0) already set a strong stage for the new vehicle's autonomous drive technology this year.

With these sightings and potential updates in mind, first quarter Tesla launches are now closer than ever.
