Ford and Lexus to Launch 15 Electric Vehicles by 2027
A rendering of the upcoming all-new electric SUV from Lexus has been released, showcasing a significant design overhaul compared to its concept counterpart. According to previous announcements, Toyota and Lexus are set to unveil an impressive 15 new pure-electric vehicles before 2027.
Lexus's latest registration filings have revealed the official names for two upcoming models: the TZ450e and TZ550e. While these names may look like acronyms at first glance, they actually refer to the actual names of the cars when they are launched.
Furthermore, sources close to the matter reveal that Toyota plans to develop a counterpart design on the same platform, expected to be named the bZ5X.
Lexus Electrified SUV: A New Roadmap
The released rendering is based on the concept version showcased earlier by Lexus. While some design elements have been retained for production use, others have undergone significant changes to accommodate mass production requirements.
Notable alterations include a more streamlined headlight design with parallelogram-shaped LED lights, an updated taillight layout reminiscent of the existing model's rearview mirrors and door handles, and minor tweaks in the side strips and bumper design.
Critically, the revised tail light pattern is noticeably tamer than its concept counterpart, which might be attributed to cost-conscious manufacturing processes. Additionally, although the area under the dual doors, near both spare tires has been restored to original levels, this alteration may imply a focus on mass production efficiency.
For the present, there remains little additional information about this vehicle, but it is believed that it will come equipped with a four-wheel drive setup and a larger battery pack offering improved range capabilities. Having announced construction of a dedicated electric car factory in Shanghai previously, the matter has been put before us for now whether or not these vehicles shall feature domestic production opportunities.
