Get Ready for Next-Gen Luxury: 2025 RX SUV Make Global Debut at Shanghai Auto Show

Lexus ES 8 to Debut at Shanghai Auto Show in 2025

For the first time, the eighth-generation Lexus ES is expected to make a global debut at the upcoming Shanghai auto show in 2025. The vehicle, scheduled for release after its predecessor, was introduced in 2018 and underwent mid-cycle facelift in 2021.

Rumors and leaks have hinted that the new model will be electric-powertrain-equipped, with reports suggesting it will offer electrified variants of the ES 350e, ES 500e, and ES 350h. The naming conventions used by Lexus appear to indicate a change in strategy: the "h" suffix denotes an oil-electric hybrid system, the "+h" represents plug-in electric, and the single letter "e" signifies pure electrified power.

Design-wise, new renderings revealed that the ES will sport an aerodynamic profile with reduced drag. One notable feature of the exterior is a rear diffuser to reduce wind resistance. Furthermore, we anticipate that future variants may take on a more aggressive look, incorporating full-light system, and other new features.

Overall, it seems that the eighth-generation Lexus ES will introduce electrification to its lineup after a long period of reliance on oil-burning engine for power.

We will keep monitoring information coming out about new cars.
