Audi Unveils All-New RS 6 Series, Featuring Plug-in Hybrid and Electric Powertrains
The Audi RS 6 series is set to get a major upgrade with the introduction of its fifth-generation model. Not only will it be the first Audi model to offer both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and electric powertrains, but it will also be available in two forms: a PHEV version for the existing range and a fully electric RS 6 E-tron.
Designed with the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform as its base, the electric RS 6 E-tron promises to deliver exceptional driving dynamics. Conversely, the plug-in hybrid version of the RS 6 will use the updated Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), an evolution of its predecessor MLB architecture.
A bold new design is expected for the RS 6 series, adopting a more aggressive stance with wider wheel arches and sharper lines as well as larger diffusers under the car.
Expect electrifying performance from both vehicles. In comparison to existing models like Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid which utilizes its equivalent PHEV power unit offering 782 horsepower and going from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds, and reaching a top speed of 325 km/h, RS 6 units are anticipated to make even greater gains.
RS 6 will have both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions and electric drive capabilities – the latest news suggests they'll come equipped with either electric powertrains with an advanced PPC setup or electric engines featuring PPE as their bases.
