Chinese EV Brands See Surge in Orders amid Discounts and Promotions
Fourteen April marked a significant milestone for several Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brands, which reported substantial increases in orders over the past week. The spike in demand comes as the brands have been offering discounts and promotions to boost sales.
According to a post on his personal social media platform by Bao Wei, CEO of Sonde Motors, which operates Zero Run, iQian, and other EV brands, the companies saw significant growth in orders over the past week. Notably, BYD added over 70,000 units to its order books, while Zero Run reported sales exceeding 100,000 units.
Zero Run's net profit increased by over 1,000% in 2024 compared to the previous year, with earnings reaching ¥2.3 billion. The company also reported that it had sold more than 10,000 iQian units in a single week for the first time.
Data from BYD revealed that the brand's order books surged by over 70%, while Zero Run saw its sales exceed 100,000 units for the third consecutive month. Xiali Li, CEO of Xiali Automobile, revealed that his company had sold 20,000 units in April, up significantly from the previous year.
In the data-obsessed EV industry, these numbers suggest a surge in demand. Several major Chinese auto manufacturers have seen significant sales growth over the past week.
