Peugeot Unveils Brand-new e-208 GTi, Combining Style and Performance
On June 14th, Peugeot unveiled its newest electric model, the full-fat e-208 GTi. Based on the innovative e-CMP platform, this model boasts a powerful electric powertrain, a 280-horsepower front-mounted motor, with an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 5.7 seconds.
The exterior design follows in the footsteps of e-208 but features an abundance of sporty elements. The front grille has been enlarged and integrates seamlessly with the new car's LED headlights to create a single unit design, complemented by vertical mesh screens on either side, adorned with red trim accents. At its core lies the Peugeot trademark LED daytime running lights.
The body's five-door two-box structure remains unchanged, but its lower profile silhouette is underscored by bold and prominent wheels alongside substantial sills, giving the e-GTi a robust appearance. Furthermore, this version comes with 7-spoke wheel rims featuring the GTi emblem. Notably, it has been specially equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires (215/40 R18 sizes), designed to showcase the driving dynamics fully. It also boasts sport-oriented suspension components consisting of dual fixed dampers prior to front steering knuckles and large Brembo front brakes.
To its rear lies a streamlined design incorporating flaps that cut through wind resistance, an improved rain wiper function, as well as three-element tail lights with a decorative gradient effect linking the different elements together for a cohesive feel. It is worth highlighting, however, the lower weight of 1596 kilograms contributing to a perfect weight-to-power ratio.
In terms of interior design, the vehicle's predominantly red and black theme reflects a unique blend of aggression without lacking on comfort or style. All the gauges are built within glass instrument panels which are complemented by double-spoked control levers alongside integrated multi-function steering wheels for better handling during driving. Key areas such as switch panels use sophisticated textures mixed with carbon material together with Alcantara in line to produce a very sporty look.
Lastly, it is equipped with an advanced iConnect system that offers voice recognition and wireless connectivity options via Apple CarPlay/Android Auto applications.
Lastly, this electric Peugeot e-208 GTi comes powered by a front-mounted motor. Peak horsepower measures at 280 while peak torque stands at 345 Nm of twisting force capable of shooting the car from standstill going to 100 km/h in mere five and seven-tenth seconds under WLTP standards, as per official claims, with top speed capped off due to weight constraints.
Furthermore, this e-208 GTi features the integration of a limited slip differential on gear change with additional suspension components designed for improved dampening. It has an ESP that has been fine-tuned to cater specifically to driving in racing conditions; however this function is entirely disabled at the drivers end as they opt to turn up individual drive modes offering maximum performance at full throttle and at maximum efficiency, it will also feature a special rear wing system which replicates its classic Peugeot 205 GTI model.
This vehicle will be officially on sale within the coming soon months.
