China's 6th-Priced EV Fleet Takes Off: Meet The 9,200-Capacity Longshan Battery Car

BYD Continues to Expand its Global Reach with the Launch of Its Sixth Vehicle Transport Ship, "BYD Changsha"

June 24 marked the occasion for the naming ceremony and sea trial of BYD's sixth vehicle transport ship, "BYD Changsha", held in Hai'an, Jiangsu Province.

Attending the event was Dr. Gong Qingling, director of BYD's Basic Scientific Research Institute, who served as the guest of honor at the naming ceremony. The "BYD Changsha" is named after Changsha, a city in Hunan Province and serves as part of BYD's fleet used for transporting vehicles across its global network.

The ship boasts 9,200 standard cargo bays and is equipped with cutting-edge LNG dual-fuel clean energy technology, ensuring an efficient and environmentally friendly way to transport BYD- manufactured vehicles to customers worldwide.

The launch comes at a time when China's automotive export sector continues to show signs of growth. In the first five months of 2025 alone, the country saw its vehicle export statistics rise by 16% year-on-year, totaling 2.83 million units. This upward trend can be attributed in part to professional shipping services such as those provided by BYD's self-owned ferry fleet, safeguarding the brand's global outreach and supply chain operations.

On a related note, Byd has announced its sales figures show promising increases with May sales totalling 68.2 million vehicles. The company has seen growth of 22% compared to last year.

One example of this recent expansion from a recent launch (BYD XIAN), in which BYD launched more than 7000 vehicles in Europe in June.

In addition to Byd, other transport fleets are currently operating for over 70 thousand electric Byd vehicles across the globe.

"The addition of 'BYD Changsha' will undoubtedly mark a pivotal step forward not just for BYD but also for China’s automotive industry as it continues its rapid expansion into global markets," said Dr. Kong Qingling, director of BYD's Basic Scientific Research Institute during the naming ceremony of the ship.
