BYD Sees Surge in April Sales by 21.3% as Growth Accelerates in Q2

Byd Sees Strong Sales Growth in Q1 2025

The Chinese automaker Byd reported a significant surge in sales during the first quarter of 2025, with a total of 380,089 vehicles sold compared to the same period last year.

Weighing on this growth was a breakdown of quarterly vehicle sales by brand. The company's kingam and ocean network sales accounted for 347,053 units, followed closely behind by equation coworkers sales of 10,939 units, tiger car sales of 15,388 units, and emperor car sales of 135 units.

Meanwhile, the company released detailed financial reports on April 30, with consolidated revenue reaching $17,036 million during the first quarter of 2025, a year-over-year growth increase of 36.35%.

The net profits attributed to Byd's publicly traded shareholders more than doubled in the same period, increasing to 91,550 million yuan, up from 100/38 percent compared to the previous year's net revenue. Moreover, the company reported that overseas vehicle sales exceeded 200,000 vehicles during the first quarter of 2025, with a year-over-year growth increase rate of 110% at this stage. Byd’s efforts to expand its presence in international markets have been particularly noted in this respect. Furthermore, Byd announced plans to enter European markets in April and recently launched its third roll-on/off ship "BYD HEFEI", with the successful embarkation taking place in early January.

The company also reported an operating revenue of 16,628.57 billion yuan during the first quarter of 2025 and had an increase of 35 percent compared to last year's revenue. On top of that, Byd’s R&D spending reached 14,220 million yuan, up 34% from the same period last year. This year Byd introduced the "supreme platform", unveiling new electrical components such as a high-power supercharged battery, 3kW three-motor equipment and the novel first-generation car class carbon Silicon chip, reaching watts of level on the core tri-electric up-grade upgrade to megawatt levels (10kW).
