Ferrari's Second Electric Car to Debut in 2028, Two Years After Original Plan

Ferrari is delaying the release of its second electric car by two years from the original plan. According to reliable sources, the main reason for this delay is to properly assess demand for electric vehicles.

The delayed launch is no surprise, but it's unfortunate for fans eager to get their hands on Ferrari's latest electric offering. The first electric Ferrari will be a limited edition model, while its second generation is expected to be a mass-market production car with substantially higher output.

In 2025, Ferrari announced that the FXX-Q is already in production testing stages.

Recently, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said he plans to give a demo for new technologies on October 9th,2025. New vehicle's exterior & interior design & details will be unveiled.

The new electric car in expected mid-October 2026 and it is planned to come with electric motors powered engine technology similar those applied by Hyundai Motor Group at Ioniq series EVs.

Notably, this new Ferrari model isn't unique. Other Italian sports car brands are facing their own delays for their electric cars. The Lamborghini brand has shifted its first production electric V12 flagship 'Lamborghini Sienna' from 2028 to 2029 year due to high market demand and supply chain challenges. On the other hand Maserati scrapped plans for an MC20 model.
