Hyundai Ioniq 6 N: A High-Performance Variant to Debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed
A spy shot has revealed a glimpse into the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, a high-performance variant that promises to upstage its predecessor, the Ioniq 5 N. The new model is expected to arrive at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 10.
The Ioniq 6 N will build upon the successful formula set by the Ioniq 5 N, featuring a range of exciting features, including the N e-shift sound wave simulation and Drift Optimizer drift mode. However, it is not expected to deviate from its four-wheel-drive system that has been identical to its sibling model.
Inside, the interior design will be largely similar to that of the Ioniq 6, but with some notable changes. The central screen features a dual touchscreen setup, while each side hosts a media display screen providing an immersive experience for passengers. Notably, the new car arrives equipped with brand-new sport seats and a distinctive triple-spoke steering wheel.
One area where the Ioniq 6 N truly stands out is its emphasis on suspension optimization. This reworked chassis design effectively lowers the vehicle's center of gravity while enhancing tactile responsiveness. The electronics of this improved damping system serves to augment this by providing optimal balance between comfort and dynamic handling.
Under the bonnet, it can be anticipated that the powertrain features hold their place in status quo – or slightly better. Indeed, the latest iteration offers potential gains over the latest variant for the Ioniq 5 N: a higher output of 650 horsepower and an improved maximum torque of 770 units, with reduced travel time from 0 to 100 kilometers (km) marked down by half a second compared to its predecessor.
For reference, it is noted that the maximum electric force delivered via the dual-electric drivetrain system remains the same as in the Ioniq 5 N at around 609 horsepower and an impressive peak of 740 kg units. It's expected that these figures will be matched when the car launches into high-impact modes such as GB mode, allowing drivers the freedom to exploit their maximum driving capabilities within a secure safety zone.
As anticipation builds for this Ioniq 6 N model, all eyes are set on Goodwood in July to determine how it stacks up against its impressive competition of highly advanced motor sports vehicles.
