Audi RS 5 Sedan Spotted with Fresh Facelift Photos
Photos of the Audi RS 5 sedan have made their way online, showcasing a fresh facelift compared to previous unveilings. The updates aim to enhance the exterior design, while a plug-in hybrid powertrain is expected to debut later in the year.
Details Abound
The latest images reveal a revamped front end featuring the removal of mid-mounted vented side air dams on either side of the car. This gives the RS 5 an even more menacing appearance, thanks in part to its signature angular LED headlights and double-layer hexagonal grille design that doubles as the company's iconic monoblock "beak" logo.
For daylight operation, Audi has incorporated discrete LED DRLs strategically positioned above each headlight; a sharp contrast with last month’s images showcasing only ambient light indicators as daytime running lights. This enhances road presence by day when most often not even visible under any conventional headlamps.
Turning to the side profile, the RS 5's sloping roofline offers an agile visual effect complemented by five-spoke alloy wheels providing a touch of blackened elegance.
Behind those sleek rear-end lines lies another signature move from Audi as a larger size elliptical dual exhaust pipe flanks a rather unique aerodynamic setup suggesting increased ventilation capabilities or even performance-oriented exhaust modifications to make the whole front and rear of the car truly “race-inspired”. Rear lights have taken on dimensions in line with Audi's "RS Sport" series – no doubt hinting at an increase in both cooling efficiency and a certain level of competition-honed dynamism.
Sources close to the company suggest that further updates will bring even greater emphasis on e-technology, as an all-new MLB Evo platform powered-up by PPC is set to spawn this dynamic plug-in power unit boasting incredible electric running capabilities.
