Honda 2025 Global Strategy Revealed: Shifting gears towards Electrification and AI-Driven Safety Features

Honda Releases 2025 Global Business Plan, Aiming for Sustainable Growth and Enhanced Competitiveness

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has released its 2025 global business plan, outlining a comprehensive strategy to drive sustainable growth and enhance competitiveness in the face of complex market environments. The plan focuses on developing intelligent technologies, electrification, and mixed mobility solutions.

Intelligentization and Electrification Efforts

Honda will accelerate its development of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) with a focus on smart navigation and automatic driving capabilities for vehicles on both urban roads and highways. The new technology is set to debut in 2027 in North America and Japan. Initially, the system will be applied primarily to electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles due to limitations on power management and SoC chip cooling.

Mixed mobility efforts include the full-scale upgrading of its e-HEV engine and platform systems. Small and medium-sized vehicles are expected to feature more efficient energy conversion zones within their engines, while new hybrid platforms will achieve higher maneuverability and reduction in vehicle weight. By 2027, Honda aims to launch 13 new mixed-mobility models globally.

Pure Electric Vehicle Strategy Adjustments

Responding to slowing sales growth, Honda is revising its pure electric vehicle (PEV) strategy. Currently set at achieving a share of PEVs of under 30% by 2030, the company now expects that amount to be lower due to market fluctuations. However, for the long haul, Honda remains committed to expanding its offer with sustainable solutions.

The "Honda e: Series" will launch in 2026, powered by advanced sensor and AD technologies from ASIMO OS. Mixed electric vehicles are set for 2027 introduction with a new H-moto label marking four-wheeled industry changes.

Supply Chain Adjustments

Recognizing fluctuating demands and regulatory evolution, Honda adopts flexible supply chain strategies focused on mixed production, prioritizing rapid capacity adjustments, lean logistics, and efficient procurement routines.

Honda Eyes 50% Share in Global Bicycle Market by 2030

The company is now keen to expand its global bicycle market share by achieving 50% as early as 2030.

Global Strategy Update

The plan emphasizes cooperation with the Momenta Group for new ADAS projects tailored for China's unique road conditions.

Additional Plans

For mixed electricity development, Honda announces more comprehensive mixed mobility products and an electric powertrain platform optimized to lower vehicle costs while still maintaining performance levels.

A new Indian high-efficiency plant targeted at mass production of electric vehicles by 2028 aims to gain share in the rapidly expanding motorcycle market through sustainable innovations.

Conclusion

By adjusting its vision for future success with a focus on advanced technologies, efficiency optimizations, and more dynamic supply chains, Honda aspires to rekindle confidence among investors worldwide.
