New Changan Ideal i8 Pure Electric SUV to Launch on July 29th
The dates for the official launch of the new Changan Ideal i8, a six-seat pure electric SUV, have been confirmed to be July 29th. The vehicle is expected to be priced within the range of CNY 3.5 million to CNY 4 million.
Based on the latest images released by the official website, the new car will feature a white steering wheel, and an all-screen design for the dashboard with dual screens. Other notable features include media-streaming rearview mirrors.
The exterior design of the Ideal i8 has been reviewed, adopting a more dynamic wind tunnel-inspired front-end design while maintaining symmetry with other lines in the series. Its dimensions are 5085mm long, 1960mm wide, and 1740mm high, with an overall length matched at similar levels from other M-series cars.
Under the hood, the Ideal i8 will ride on a newer advanced driving assistance framework called MindVLA for better safety experience. For more details, it's anticipated to adopt full-dimension Prandtl-Serra ATX advanced lidar sensor that are much compact than earlier generation sensors while can detect targets at maximum distance of 300 meters, providing a high accuracy system.
The new car also carries a Changan next-generation drive chip which is capable of performing with a single-vertex chip power reaching the 700Tops. The upcoming MindVLA framework will be an advanced computer platform combining all aspects to build smart machine learning models that enable its users to interact more intelligently, allowing for a better and more human-like driving partner.
From a performance perspective, the Ideal i8 is equipped with a dual-electric four-wheel drive system. This includes electric motors of max 100kW and 200kW front- and rearside power respectively. The battery pack being powered out of C5 three-cell trinity modules to be either 90.1kwh or 97.8kwh battery which equates to a driving range up to 670km when powered by the former and to some extent higher than the latter as per recent analysis
