SmartCar Upgrades OBD-II Connectivity with Enhanced Autonomous Driving Features
On July 6, Geely's Wuling Motor Corporation announced that it would be rolling out an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade for all models, which introduces 10 new features and refines the intelligent auxiliary driving capabilities to further elevate the car's smartness.
The new features include:
- NCA Highway Automatic Toll Collection: allows drivers to pass through highways with automatic toll collection without any interruptions. This feature requires the purchase of a higher-tier subscription package.
- Off-Parking Entry Assistance (EPA): supports parking assistance with off-road capability, ensuring a safe distance from other vehicles and automatically steering into the parking space.
The upgrade also introduces enhancements to existing features:
- Enhanced Manual Emergency Turn assist (eAES): provides automatic override of vehicles caught in emergency situations.
- Remote Assistance: customers can initiate updates through the Hi-Motor smart app, allowing for seamless remote installations without physical contact with the vehicle.
SmartCar has optimized its driving experience by implementing intuitive features such as:
- Slower Braking Thresholds (in non-critical scenarios) for a more predictable driving experience.
- Optimized Lane Changes: ensures lane changes occur swiftly and efficiently.
The upgrade method is divided into two types: over-the-air update via the vehicle's infotainment system or remote update through Hi-Motor app. The process begins with a user-initiated update, selecting cars to update and starting the download.
Some points need note:
- It is necessary to park vehicles in secure locations, close all external applications, and ensure their batteries are high enough before proceeding.
- Users may experience temporary freezes or other minor issues during the upgrade. These should be left undisturbed.
- No need for user intervention: once done, if any additional notifications arise, they can wait it out and resume driving after some time.
- Any vehicle displaying battery depletion warnings will appear on display to give driver a chance resuming driving.
- If users have trouble with their vehicles drivers will be contactable at 400-008-2888.
Please note that the software was version number changes in both pure electric and incremental models depending on configuration:
* OBD Version: 4.4.18
* Enhanced Version: 4.4.78
