Skoda Unveils Epiq, Its New Entry-Level Electric SUV
A number of test shots for the production version of Skoda's Epiq have been leaked. The Epiq is a new entry-level electric SUV from Skoda, positioned below its ID.2 model. Based on the MEB Entry platform shared with Volkswagen's ID.2 all, it is expected to retail in the region of €2,500 (approximately RMB 19,600).
Expected Design Features
While the production version still carries a layer of camouflage, the front face appears to retain significant design elements from the concept car, including sharp front grille and substantial hood. The lighting design also seems to borrow heavily from the concept, with a multi-element headlamps setup that will likely be carried over. However, it is unclear if the daytime running lights will remain as they were on the concept.
Rear Side Profile
Taking a look at the rear, production version Epiq's external rearview mirror has been moved across to the side panel, drawing attention and emphasizing its focal point. Combined with earlier information about wheelbase length being around 4.1 meters and the rear storage compartment volume expected to be over 490 liters, there remains a degree of uncertainty for now.
Interior
Following in the footsteps of the concept model, interior specifications will likely include floating screens embedded within the center console along with Skoda's latest in-house infotainment system. Additionally, a suite of buttons at the lower corner of the dashboard and pockets on either hand side have been identified, all centered around a relatively minimalist aesthetic that blends comfort with efficiency.
Technical Details
With Skoda setting its sights firmly onto establishing an online presence by offering vehicles powered solely through electric motors, both performance figures are looking set to soar. Equipped with 226 horsepower engine coupled up alongside the MEB Entry framework shared also with the ID.2 all variant expected to push the range beyond 400 kilometers on a full charge according WLTP testing parameters.
