Multiple New Cars Unveiled at Shanghai Auto Show

The Shanghai auto show kicked off on April 23, and Volkswagen Group's official representative revealed that the company will be showcasing five new models on the occasion. These include a first-ever high-performance concept SUV by Volkswagen, ID.3 GTX, Thonio Pro with radical modifications, Audi A5L Sportback, and Audi's first production model.

The most anticipated car is a unique SUV model from Volkswagen, scheduled to emerge into production in the next quarter of 2026 after unveiling its technology, powered by Momenta AI technology, targeting popular models L8 and L9. This high-end electric vehicle (EV) will be built on top of the technology base of Volkswagen's ID.4.

ID.3 GTX is a performance version of ID.3 with an aggressive exterior design featuring red accents inside of the car, coupled with dynamic upholstery colors. Performance-focused ID.3 comes equipped with the most powerful 210kW (282 hp) electric motor unit, accelerating it from 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and a battery capacity of 79 kWh. The standard version has an even more impressive range of 604 kilometers.

The Audi A5L Sportback model boasts improved intake features and enhanced styling elements such as dual LED headlights combined with increased airflow around the front grille. A unique rear body design aims to evoke the RS5, further emphasizing its sports capabilities through a wider body profile and strong tail lights. The car comes equipped with advanced AI driving system devised by Huawei as well as dual high sensitivity radar sensors.

Finally, Audi introduced their first production vehicle called E model designed from basic concept by collaboration of Audi with top-down production. Engineed on an efficient platform, expected in 2025 to produce massive power, equating around 765kW and taking just 3.6 seconds to reach its maximum speed, this model is equipped according to European automotive standards, featuring a more efficient electric system capable of charging the batteries in less than 10 minutes providing an extensive travel distance during these quick charges. It comes fully equipped with improved braking systems at various speeds that promote smoother driving and greater stability as well.
