Chinese Electric Vehicle-maker Geely to Open Upgrade for Spirit Rugged 4x4 System on June 28th

On June 28th, Geely Automobile officials announced that the Spirit Rugged 4x4 system, which is currently available only as a factory-installed option, will be opened up for user upgrades and modifications. The upgrade is compatible with three models: Geely LS7 Flared Edition, Geely LS6, and the 2024 Geely L6.

Starting from July 2025, users can start shopping for the Spirit Rugged 4x4 system through the "IM Geely App", and it is expected to officially launch the upgrade service in December of this year.

According to official statements, the Spirit Rugged 4x4 system boasts a unique ability called "Perfect Attitude Control During Tire Blowout”. In the event of a tire blowout, the system can recognize the issue within 200 milliseconds and respond instantaneously by turning the rear wheels an astonishing 40 milliseconds. This purportedly results in a response time that is three times faster than standalone suspension systems.
