BYD's Tengshi D9 Reaches Mass Production, Sees Success in APAC Markets
In a significant development, BYD, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced that its Tengshi D9 model has officially entered mass production at the company's Shandong factory. This achievement marks an important milestone for the brand, as the Tengshi D9 has already started gaining traction in various APAC markets.
According to recent data, the Tengshi D9 has secured top spots in the MPV sales charts in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. The model boasts a range of eight available trim levels, priced between 33.98-46.98 thousand RMB.
Design-wise, the Tengshi D9 features a distinctive "π-Motion" aesthetic, characterized by a family-like language with adaptive LED headlights, integrated rear spoilers, and a bold front grille that commands attention. Additionally, the tail-end design is marked by an elegant yet functional layout, blending seamlessly with the car's aerodynamic profile.
The Tengshi D9 offers users an immersive interactive experience through its multi-screen system, supporting up to 10 screens including the dashboard display, instrument cluster, passenger-side console screen, and more. Under the hood, the standard Tengshi D9 comes mounted on the fifth-generation powertrain technology coupled with the high-pressure DC 800V platform. Specifically tailored for the BYD472ZQB variant equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, the plug-in hybrid model delivers a notable maximum output of 115kW. The electric-only version supports an impressive range of up to 620 kilometers (WLTP-standard), which is augmented further by its high-output DC quick-charging function that replenishes batteries in just five minutes.
The latest updates for the Tengshi D9 have further enhanced overall driving capabilities, thanks to advanced safety features that include support from BYD's well-regarded Skywell Cloud+ predictive wheel alignment technology.
