BMW's Mid-Life facelifted 5-Series Hits More Spec Rumors
The newly facelifted version of BMW's mid-size sedan is expected to enter production around March 2027 and finally debut later this year. The revised G60 LCI and G61 models, which cover the gasoline-powered and hybrid/electric variants, are anticipated to adopt a new naming system inspired by BMW's Neue Klasse generation.
Exterior Design
The exterior of the car is expected to closely follow the previous-generation model, with minimal changes in certain design aspects. However, the rear end remains shrouded in secrecy, hinting at possible significant modifications.
Visually identifying features include more slender tail-lights and a mid-axle-mounted trunk lid. The interior is anticipated to feature the new MW iDrive system, including 360-degree view shows, a 3D heads-up display, an augmented reality navigation system, as well as the fourth-generation control interfaces for BMW Dynamics.
Powertrain and trim options
The upcoming model will be offered globally with gas-powered, diesel, plug-in hybrid (electric range over 150km) models, along with a high-range electric variant of i5 and gas powered models in various market regions. The fuel injected version will still utilize present generation engine arrangements for the front-wheel drive variants and rear-wheel driving variants coupled with their respective power configurations.
Additionally, there are rumors floating around the launch of new M Division model which should give strong performance with higher numbers.
Upcoming Variants
BMW officially confirms only the petrol-based G550e Xdrive iPerformance variant is in US markets whereas diesel based versions would need a larger share in the European market.
