Turbo or Over $10,000: The Shockingly Priced Cayenne EV Hits Foreign Shores

Porsche Unveils Cayenne EV With Surprisingly Capable Towing and Potentially Record-Breaking Acceleration

Porsche recently took its Cayenne EV for a spin on some rural roads, where it performed an entertaining towing test behind a vintage car. The resulting tug-of-war maneuver showcased the vehicle's impressive braking capabilities, with a recorded 7,716 pounds (approximately 3,500 kilograms) of weight being pulled.

Beyond the fun and games, Porsche officials revealed that the Cayenne EV boasts dynamic capabilities comparable to or even surpassing those of its gasoline-powered counterparts. In comparison to the plug-in hybrid-equipped High Performance P HEV model, which features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine coupled with an electric motor for a total system power output of 544 horsepower and torque of 950 Nm (newtons-meters).

Given these numbers, it's likely that the Cayenne EV's towing capacity will exceed 1,000 pounds (approximately 454 kilograms). With respect to acceleration, Porsche engineers are speculating about a possible 0-60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) launch time of less than 3 seconds, possibly edging into sub-second territory.

The Cayenne EV boasts the same Platform PPE 800V as its Macan EV sibling and is likely built using the same dual-electric motor setup. Porsche officials have also announced plans to bring the Cayenne EV online for deliveries later this year.

Pricing-wise, the international launch of the Cayenne EV is anticipated to fall in the $90,000 range, giving customers an opportunity to try out this exciting electric vehicle.
