Audi Introduces Its First Plug-in Hybrid Q5 Model in Europe and Mexico
Audi has officially unveiled its new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the popular Q5 model, which is set to debut in European markets by the end of June. The newly launched Q5 PHEV will be produced exclusively in Mexico.
The Q5 PHEV boasts a generous 25.9 kWh battery pack and allows for an impressive 100 km (62 miles) of electric-only range. With this new model, Audi is taking a step towards reducing its carbon footprint while maintaining the driving excitement that defines the brand.
Audi's entry into the plug-in hybrid market does not come without pricing competition, however; Audi has announced that the starting price for the Q5 PHEV in Germany will be €63,400 (approximately ¥525,000). This is lower than expected but higher priced compared to other competitors. As we might expect, top of the line models comes at the same time with slightly better output on their electric motors.
The exterior design and layout adhere closely to Audi's previous model offerings. New sleek headlights enhance style while also providing an excellent visibility for road users. The PHEV Q5 comes standard with an S Line package which enhances vehicle's sportiness.
Audi also made changes in the interior space that includes digital instrument displays, more comprehensive middle display screen (14. 5 inch), a touchscreen central unit and several color lighting effects. Each of these were inspired to increase the sense of luxury in the cabin. A sporty drive is even enhanced by special style trimmings which we described before.
The motor for Audi's Q5 plug in uses one version with high performance level and another more basic, each powered differently than said before.
