Tesla Sets Record with Autodrive Capability
Tesla's Model Y has made history by being delivered to customers without any human intervention during the entire process. The vehicle achieved speeds of up to 115 kilometers per hour and arrived safely at its owner's doorstep.
The announcement was made on social media by Tesla's Vice-President, Tao Lin, who shared a video of the car's autonomous drive from factory to customer residence. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also chimed in, stating that "Tesla is truly outstanding, leading the way in many areas, particularly FSD." He expressed his support for Tesla's continued innovation.
The milestone comes after Tesla introduced its Robotaxi service last week, which sees Model Y cars operate without human drivers. While the vehicles are equipped with a safety escort, who rides in the passenger seat, the cars do not require driver input during these autonomous journeys. The service, currently limited to specific geographical areas, allows passengers to track their route via digital displays.
Musk's plans aim to expand the Robotaxi fleet to 1,000 vehicles by the end of this year and reach over 10 million units next year.
