Ideal Motors Unveils Plans for i8, A First Pure Electric SUV in Its Lineup

Ideal Motors has announced that its long-awaited electric SUV, the i8, is nearing completion with a planned release date set for late July. The company revealed a sneak peek of the car's on-site testing and production preparations, showcasing the highly anticipated model's technology and features.

The ideal i8 will be the first entirely-electric SUV in Ideal Motors' lineup, marking the brand's focus on smart transportation solutions. With the i series, Ideal Motors aims to bring hybrid vehicles with high intelligence, reflecting their vision for the automotive industry's future. Key features of the vehicle include a 6-seat configuration and anticipated pricing within the 35-40 million yuan bracket.

Designed in line with ideal pure-electric cars' family-like design concept, the ideal i8 showcases MEPA-inspired aesthetics. Measurements reveal the car's dimensions, including overall length, width, height (5085 * 1960 * 1740 mm), and wheelbase (3050 mm). Compared to its predecessors, it boasts a more extended wheelbase while showcasing similar body volume with more substantial interiors anticipated.

Powering the ideal i8 is a novel double electric four-wheel drive system. Each front- and rear-motor combines for maximum power of 150kW and 250 kW, respectively. Equipped with Ideal Motors' latest lithium-ion battery technology (5C capacity), this new vehicle represents an evolution over previous i-series products in terms of performance.

Ideal i8 also comes equipped with a state-of-the-art laser-based perception system called the Wandaisen ATX laser radar, further enhancing capabilities with increased detection distances and support for up to 256 lanes while achieving higher resolutions. This is joined by a highly efficient brain chip produced by Ida Weida's Drive AGx Thor-U Chip, combining cutting-edge performance to offer high L3 level levels of drive assistance.
