Mercedes-Benz China and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Recall 250+ Vehicles Amid Safety Concerns
Beijing, June 13 -- In compliance with the Regulations on Voluntary Vehicle Product Safeguarding for Defective Vehicles and the Provisions of the Regulations on Voluntary Vehicle Product Safeguarding for Defective Vehicles, Mercedes-Benz China Automobile Co., Ltd. and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. submitted a recall plan to the National Market Supervision Administration.
Recall Batch 1:
A total of 252 domestically manufactured C-class and GLC SUV vehicles, with production dates ranging from April 25, 2023 to August 17, 2023, will be recalled under batch S2025M0090V. These vehicles will have their faulty insurance fuse boxes replaced during a free repair campaign.
Recall Batch 2:
Under the recall batch S2025M0094V, 257 imported S-class and EQE vehicles with production dates ranging from February 8, 2023 to October 10, 2023, will be included in the recall. The reason for this broader recall is due to potentially faulty insurance fuse boxes that have already been used during previous repair operations, which may lead to various systems becoming malfunctioning.
Reasons Behind the Recall:
Mercedes-Benz warned of several system malfunctions such as loss of power and ignition system failures. Furthermore, they noted a possible risk of starting fires in these vehicles due to safety concerns existing within them.
Resolution Strategy:
To address these potential issues, Mercedes-Benz China Automobile Co., Ltd. and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. are organizing workshops across the network of licensed dealerships that distribute authorized cars. These companies are offering absolutely free insurance fuse replacement for all involved cars in an effort to resolve safety hazards within them.
Announcement:
The owners will be contacted through a letter sent via registered mail and they may contact the services department over the phone in order to discuss this matter further (available from Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day). Users can also see recall information on official platform sites such as National Market Supervision Administration.
