Modern i20 Electric Car Spotted Online
A recently leaked set of images has shed light on what appears to be a modern i20 electric car, sparking interest among car enthusiasts. The production-ready vehicle is expected to make its debut in August 2026.
Speculation also suggests that the new car might be an early prototype for the upcoming BJ1 EV project, tailored specifically for the European market.
Design and Features
Upfront, the car boasts a double-layered air intake grille system. Inspectors have spotted an angular profile beneath the grille, giving a glimpse into the potential shape of the vehicle's front end. The sides will likely feature additional flow channels to aid aerodynamics. The sleek LED lights create a rectangular silhouette.
On the wheels, modern five-spoke alloy wheels are expected to be sized large for optimal performance and sportiness.
A hidden tail-lamp group appears at the rear along with discreet cameras and projection heads mounted below this module, signifying a potential adoption of sophisticated driver-aids. Modern styling and sleek lines also indicate improved engine compartment aerodynamics, although more specifics are needed to confirm.
Interior Details
Unfortunately, little can be seen beyond the cockpit's visage due to extensive camouflage work. The new car seems destined for sportiness with premium leather-seated passenger spaces complemented by visible steering wheel and front seat logo from its parent model (i20). Two cupholders have appeared in central channel. Rear seats space is quite compact but air-con has emerged at outtake for easy ventilation.
Powertrain
The new car may operate on a purely electric power unit. Possibilities of combustion variants will likely be ruled-out during the design stage due to expected emissions regulations. Further powertrains could possibly encompass high-performance derivatives such as N-Line models, but full details remain unseen at this point in development. Our watch for further updates continues.
