Ideal Motors Unveils First Pure Electric SUV, Ideal i8
On February 25th, Ideal Motors officially released its first pure electric SUV model, dubbed the Ideal i8. The car is set to join an expanding lineup of "i" series models, alongside existing "L" and "MEGA" offerings. According to Lee Xuan, Director of Marketing at Ideal Motors, the "L" moniker represents "Leading," while the "i" stands for "intelligence."
Ideal's L系列 family includes L6 (full-size SUV), L7 (full-size SUV), L8 (mid-size full-size SUV), and L9 (large full-size SUV). The MEGA model takes its place in the large multi-purpose vehicle segment. Although the ideal i8 is expected to be closer in size to the Ideal L8, with dimensions of 5080 x 1995 x 1800 mm and a wheelbase of 3005mm, it's positioned as a mid-size SUV.
The official renderings showcase a revised exterior design that maintains family styling cues while introducing new elements. The distinctive star-shaped day-night pattern on the front apron bears resemblance to previous MEGA models. Additionally, enhancements have been made to the front hood, adding more dynamic lines and a metallic appearance.
At the rear, the tailgate features an updated U-Shape enclosure with integrated side windows and a combination of headlamps providing better all-around visibility. Unlike its MEGA predecessor, the i8 boasts a more substantial rear end with new LED taillights that embody an air of strength. Furthermore, this rendition eschews MEGA's characteristic design for an aerodynamic shape more akin to that of the Ideal L9.
The interior and powertrain details remain under wraps for now but are anticipated to be featured in the coming times. The exterior retains the familiar Ideal Motors styling language while incorporating some unique visual elements to differentiate it from other models within its series; expect some surprises behind those curvy lines!
