Xiaomi YU7: A Promising Electric Vehicle with a Range of Innovative Features
As production prepares to scale up, Chinese company addresses concerns over delivery time and smart key technology
A series of questions was posted on the Ask Mi forum by users regarding the upcoming release of Xiaomi's YU7 electric vehicle. In response, the manufacturer has assured fans that it is well-prepared for mass production and will ensure a swift turnaround once formal sales begin.
According to the company's latest statement, measures are being taken to ramp up production as quickly as possible in response to anticipated strong demand from users interested in the new model. This optimism was backed by information regarding delivery timelines with customers informed that they would have to wait 36 weeks, or nearly one year, before taking possession of their Xiaomi SU7.
However, there are also concerns over what impact this wait time will have on potential buyers, who have been eager to get behind the wheel of their YU7. While officially, delivery is not expected until early 2026, that should still give enough headroom once sales actually begin in earnest.
Another aspect that may interest electric vehicle enthusiasts at large – although for the YU7 specifically, only those currently keen on acquiring one need know this about it – has recently been highlighted via a comparison of traditional Bluetooth key technology against the UWB (Ultra-wideband) smart keys.
While Xiaomi officials did not say so outright – no one can deny that comparisons of their latest to previous, out-of-date model versions are unavoidable now - they will be happy enough in the knowledge that for users with UWB-enabled cars, these new smart keys provide an advantage when it comes down to issues ranging widely from pinpoint accuracy for locating yourself behind the wheel and other occupants, safety and even spatial awareness.
And for those still on the fence about going to an electric vehicle - a worry about their convenience in such environments being high – UWB may yet prove the deciding factor as one can only be sure these are real improvements if you try it out yourself.
