Hyundai Electrified GT: First-Make Reveal of GV60 Magma High-Performance Version
Hyundai has unveiled the specifications and design features of its new high-performance model, the GV60 Magma. This variant of the popular compact SUV GV60 takes cues from the Ioniq 5 N and shares many of its technical characteristics.
Positioned in the mid-range segment, the GV60 Magma boasts a starting manufacturer's guide price range of CNY 2903 - CNY 3768 (USD equivalent upon release). While sharing many similarities with the standard GV60, the high-performance iteration promises increased power output, tweaked suspension settings, and aerodynamic upgrades.
Design
The first set of images released by Hyundai showcase the car in camouflage guise. While much of its body shape is obscured, hints at a sleek and athletic design begin to emerge including classical dual-tone front grille and LED-lit side air intakes. Front lights retain their classic angular appearance, with lateral airflow slots that provide aerodynamic efficiency. Rear end features wider skid plates compared previously, enhanced rear wings shaped similarly to those on the Hyundai Elantra GT N, featuring vented sides with slotted front diffusers.
Exterior highlights continue in the following areas:
- The presence of five-spoke large wheels further gives an impression of dynamic intent
- Vertical mesh grill components add a touch of aggressive flair.
- Side panel layout retains its roundness, though slightly wider compared to base models
Rear end design is equally stylish, with enhanced spoilers over the standard setup – wider diffuser and dual exhaust units. Above this there’s notable aerodynamic component design: the car’s roof sports air dams reminiscent of BMW M3 coupe; while on top lies an additional performance-styled rear bonnet.
In terms of engineering, both models will utilize same high-battery pack that delivers more juice than Hyundai's previous 60kWh kit. Motor output for these two rivals appears competitive with existing dual motors found in Hyundai Ioniq EV6GT and Kia EV6 (650PS) – significantly surpass the 641 PS unit powered by the Nissan Leaf GT+.
The brand will be monitoring feedback on this model closely, allowing more details to filter in through subsequent updates.
