MG Officially Announces Plans for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Auto Show
MG has announced its plans to showcase the new MG M817 model at the upcoming Greater Bay Area Auto Show in Guangzhou. The M817 is expected to make its global debut, following a first reveal of the vehicle at the Shanghai auto show earlier this year.
The M817 is positioned as a hard-party off-road model and features Huawei's latest technology platform. The new car will be equipped with Huawei's KunAoS 4 Smart Driving Assistance System, marking their collaboration in producing a high-tech driving assistance system. The M817 is also expected to come standard with "Tianyuan Architecture," a comprehensive vehicle control platform based on Huawei's KunAoS intelligent control module.
On the design side, MG has opted for the 'Younan Beauty 2.0' aesthetic language. Visible LED lights adorn both ends of the car, along with an active warning system. The front bumper features an angular and large air intake which allows better airflow to aid in performance and better fuel efficiency. A distinctive new feature is the unique, aggressive look, complemented by silver-colored bumpers.
The cabin interior follows this trend as well with bold design language – sporty accents, premium materials, intuitive dashboard surfaces and numerous other elements combining for a truly luxurious feel.
As consumers start shopping around for off-road vehicles that prioritize performance without compromise on fuel efficiency, the MG M817 stands as an exciting competitor. By utilizing cutting-edge technology, MG has built its latest car with features such as higher-than usual ground clearance to navigate through challenging terrain while driving comfort and convenience not being sacrificed.
A look at other visual elements of the car reveals additional touches that showcase off-road prowess – aggressive side sills, large wheels, unique bumper designs and so on. The interior showcases premium feel materials, sporty accents and overall refined luxury.
The road going variants have larger tread on their tires but come with higher consumption which may detract from fuel efficiency.
On the back end we see a sleek "sword-like" LED light system at 4 corners that gives the car as a whole a highly aggressive look – probably intended for making an impression. In front of it, MG has paired off-road-focused storage for camping gear with minimal compromise on luggage space.
The M817's powertrain is expected to come fitted with enhanced engine capabilities; further specifications, however, are not yet confirmed.
For now, the full lineup will likely follow shortly
