Mercedes-Benz Unveils Latest AMG Electric Supercharger: A Potential Competitor to the Porsche Mission X
A new lineup of AMG electric supercar teasers has been released from within China’s domestic social media, signaling a potent new competitor to the upcoming Porsche Mission X.
The teaser images reveal key aspects of the car's forward bonnet, side skirt, and rear lamps. The forward bonnet boasts an intensification of its original AMG character, while adopting a no-rear-quarter panel design alongside round-topped tail lamps and an interactive screen, exuding a strong futuristic flair. Several features appear to have been adopted closer from production reality compared to the Vision One-Eleven concept.
In particular, the teaser images disclose that colors will adhere to orange hues which were employed in the production of the C111/Ⅱ concept car, under the title "Weissherbst" orange car body color. The new product will reportedly be manufactured on the AMGEA platform with 800V configuration and paired with all-wheel-magnetic propulsion units. When a single unit produces a maximum power output of 489 horsepower and 800 N/m peak torque while weighing under 24 kg.
This is not the first foray into high-performance vehicles from Mercedes-Benz since their original C111 model was unveiled in 1969. Through four generations, the concept received significant updates before being finally discontinued. Notably the 1970 generation's C111/Ⅱ featured a swooping winged design and integrated in-board four-rotor turbocharged units to push beyond production limits imposed by rotational engine design limitations, transitioning thereafter in mid-70s into a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V8 diesel supercharged engine before limited production of the fast-paddling C 111/Ⅳ reached 402 km/h (250 mph), which eventually became defunct once global oil demand faced its zenith.
